Healthy Families Martin-Okeechobee

“I would not be where I am today if Healthy Families was not in my home to help me, teaching me how to raise my son and how to be a good mom. I could have lost him if it was not for Healthy Families showing me that my son is the most important thing in my life and that they were not going to allow me to fail. I have not only overcome a drug addiction but have been able to follow through and get my son the developmental and medical help he needed”.
– Parent

Healthy Families Martin-Okeechobee is a parent coaching and support program that offers services to families who may experience stress in their lives because babies don’t come with instruction manuals. Services are offered through home visits to promote positive parent-child relationships, healthy child development, and links to health and other community resources families may need. Services may start prenatally or shortly after the birth of a baby and can continue until the child’s fifth birthday.

Highlights of the program include:

  •  Home visits by a Family Support Worker
  •  Developmental monitoring and guidance
  •  Fun and educational developmental play activities
  •  Home safety information
  •  Positive discipline tips
  •  Family goal planning

“I really enjoy the home visits. They provide me with good information on how to care for my child. I like the activities I can do with my baby, to help him grow and develop.”
