“She has given our Foundation life,” said Suzy Hutcheson as she presented a Certificate of Appreciation to Glenna Parris, on the job as Helping People Succeed Foundation’s Gift Planning Officer since April 2013. In that one-year time frame, Parris has raised more than $250,000 from individuals, underwriters, corporate businesses, and foundations. These funds will support the organization’s many programs and services, including the new autism classes and counseling programs. Parris also organized the Memories and More celebration of Helping People Succeed’s 50th Anniversary, the April Showers Baby Shower seeking donations for babies and their families and Parris coordinated a campaign for friends, family, staff and many others to support Helping People Succeed in the GREAT GIVE Day, presented on May 6, 2014.

Executive Assistant Lynn Austin could be considered Suzy Hutcheson’s “right-hand woman” when it comes to day-to-day-activities, special events, correspondence and much more. Besides her administrative duties, Austin now has added the Helping People Succeed Foundation to her job listing, assisting Glenna Parris, the Gift Planning Officer. A former Helping People Succeed Board Member, Austin was recognized for her dedication to the non-profit organization and her many extra volunteer hours. Serving Helping People Succeed for 17 years, Madeleine Greenwood is Vice President of Human Resources, Administration and Community Connections, with oversight on the Employment Options program. Greenwood, left, is recognized for her outstanding dedication, hard work and enthusiasm. “Everything she touches works,” said Hutcheson.

Helping People Succeed’s Behavioral Health Specialist Janet Cooper, left, is recognized for her work within her department and her dedication to volunteer work with the organization’s online / website activities and its popular holiday tours and decorations. Cooper has been with the non-profit for 13 years. Hutcheson described her as the “cement” that keeps many projects and staff together.

Lee Fleury of Behavioral Health Services, left, receives recognition from Hutcheson, who described her as “the glue that holds it all together.” She works daily with Behavioral Health programs and physicians who treat Helping People Succeed’s many participants. The non-profit started 50 years ago with one doctor day per month and now has expanded to two doctor days per week. Three local psychiatrists, who meet with participants of all ages, are Jose Marrero, M.D., Marshall Teitelbaum, M.D. and Richard Losardo, M.D.

Helping People Succeed is the recipient of a $1,000 donation from Wells Fargo Bank through its 2014 Community Connection Program, designed to benefit non-profit organizations and schools. Helping People Succeed’s 4,500 families will receive additional programs and services, thanks to the grant.

Thanks to the Hobe Sound Community Chest for presenting a $15,000 donation to Helping People Succeed to be used for programs and services offered in the Hobe Sound community.

Helping People Succeed, a non-profit organization that provides services for area families and adults with disabilities, has received a $10,000 donation from Publix Super Markets' Food for All campaign.

White t-shirts, aprons and for the first time, tote bags and ball caps, will be ready for noted area artists to “paint” tropical scenes as Helping People Succeed Foundation hosts its annual White Shirt Night at Taste Casual Dining in Hobe Sound.

With April as National Child Abuse Prevention Month, Helping People Succeed brought together Moms to create a reminder for motorists on U.S. 1 in Stuart with their Pinwheels for Prevention. Healthy Families Program Manager Carolyn Moses, far left kneeling, organized the mothers to mark the special month at Helping People Succeed's main office.
